My Bio

Lee Gale Gruen lives in the San Francisco Bay area.  She grew up in Los Angeles, California, graduated college from UCLA,  and had a 37-year career as a probation officer. After retiring 18 years ago, she became an actress.  Since then, she has appeared in television, film, commercials, theater, and print jobs.  For over a decade, she has performed regularly portraying patients at medical schools as part of student training.  She was one of six supporting exercise/dancers in the 2011 “Jane Fonda Prime Time Firm & Burn” workout DVD. Her transition to becoming an actress in her senior years has been written about in Time Magazine, the Los Angeles Times newspaper, AARP, and in Marlo Thomas’ 2014 book, It Ain’t Over…Till It’s Over, which profiles different women who have reinvented themselves.

Lee Gale’s published memoir about attending a senior acting class at age 60 with her 85-year-old father and then becoming a professional actress is:  Adventures with Dad: A Father and Daughter’s Journey Through a Senior Acting Class.  She is also a public speaker on the topic, “Reinventing Yourself in Your Retirement.”  Lee Gale has been writing a free blog for seven years called “Reinventing Myself in My Retirement” where she shares her thoughts, observations, and experiences.  She is currently working on a book to complement her lecture and blog.  Her goal is to help retirees, those soon to retire, baby boomers, and seniors find joy, excitement, and purpose in life after they retire.
