Guest Speaker

I am a motivational speaker lecturing on “Reinventing Yourself in Your Retirement” to help Baby Boomers, seniors, and those soon to retire find joy, excitement, and satisfaction in life after retirement.  I also give author talk/book signings for my memoir, Adventures with Dad: A Father and Daughter’s Journey Through a Senior Acting Class, which was published in 2013. I retired 14 years ago from my 37-year career as a probation officer and went on to become a professional actress, author, speaker, and blogger. The transition to becoming an actress in my senior years has been written about in Time Magazine, the Los Angeles Times newspaper, AARP Life Reimagined, and in Marlo Thomas’s 2014 book, It Ain’t Over…Till It’s Over which profiles different women who have reinvented themselves.

I have spoken at numerous public events.  My target audience members are Baby Boomers, seniors, and those contemplating retirement.  My talk, “Reinventing Yourself in Your Retirement,” runs from 30 minutes to two hours.  I customize the length and content to my audience, typically including the following points:

  • Why people fear retirement (from a job, career, parenting, etc.)
  • How you can find joy, excitement and satisfaction in life after retirement
  • How I did it
  • Activities for Baby Boomers and seniors, and how to find them
  • Q&A
  • Book sales of my memoir (if appropriate to the event)
